JOHN DEERY (Writer-Director) John Deery is making his Writer-Director film debut with Conspiracy of Silence, the script of which won him the Hartley-Merrill International Screenwriting Award in 2001. In the same year he was also awarded a fellowship from the Sundance Screenwriters’ Lab to further develop the screenplay in Utah. Originally trained as an actor, John has worked up through the film industry to first assistant director, working with a number of notable directors including Hugh Hudson, Gerard de Thame and Stephen Poliakoff. Deery has also completed the National Film and Television School’s Short Course Unit for Directors and three screenwriting courses.
